Two Amazon Hair Growth Serums Recalled Over Deadly Child Poisoning Risk

Product Recall

Two hair growth serum products sold on Amazon have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission after their packaging was found to violate the Poison Prevention Packaging Act — leaving minoxidil, a potent medication, in bottles young children can easily open. The recalls, announced in April 2026, cover approximately 6,200 units combined. No injuries have been reported. The CPSC warns the contents pose a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if swallowed by young children.

What’s Being Recalled?

Two separate products sold by different sellers on Amazon are included:

Tuymec Minoxidil Hair Growth Kit — sold in packs of two black spray bottles labeled “Tuymec Minoxidil Hair Growth” and “5% Minoxidil with Biotin,” in black cartons. Sold by DrHealBeauty on Amazon from June 2025 through August 2025 for about $24.

TecFlox Minoxidil Topical Solution — sold in packs of four white plastic bottles with white nozzles, labeled “TecFlox Minoxidil Topical Solution.” The manufacture date “MFD 2025.8.25” is printed on the underside of each bottle. Sold by Tecflox on Amazon from June 2025 through August 2025 for about $24.

Why Were These Products Recalled?

Both products contain minoxidil, an FDA-approved hair loss treatment classified as a hazardous substance under federal law. Federal law requires all products containing minoxidil to use child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. Neither recalled product has child-resistant closures, meaning the bottles can be opened easily by young children. Minoxidil is highly toxic when ingested, and even a small amount can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure, heart rhythm abnormalities, and death in young children. The liquid is also difficult to detect if consumed.

What Should You Do?

Move the recalled products immediately out of sight and reach of children. Do not leave the bottles on bathroom counters, vanity surfaces, or anywhere accessible to kids. Contact the seller for free replacement bottles with child-resistant closures, into which you should transfer the contents of the recalled bottles. For Tuymec, contact DrHealBeauty through your Amazon order. For TecFlox, contact Tecflox through your Amazon order. If you believe a child may have ingested any amount of minoxidil, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or go to an emergency room immediately — do not wait for symptoms.
