MorningStar Farms is one of the most widely recognized plant-based food brands in the U.S., and its Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties are popular freezer staples across grocery chains including Walmart, Target, Kroger, and others. No other MorningStar Farms products are affected.

Two varieties are included in this recall:
MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets, 10.5 oz — UPC 000 28989 10110 5. Best-if-used-before dates of July 7, 2027 and July 8, 2027.
MorningStar Farms Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties, 8 oz — UPC 000 28989 10094 8. Best-if-used-before dates of July 5, 2027, July 6, 2027, and July 7, 2027.
The best-if-used-before date is printed on the product packaging. Check your freezer for either variety matching these dates — all other MorningStar Farms products and date codes are not affected.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
MorningStar Farms discovered the possible presence of plastic pieces in the affected product lots. The specific source of the plastic contamination has not been publicly disclosed. Plastic pieces in food can cause physical injury if consumed, including lacerations to the mouth, throat, or digestive tract, broken teeth, choking, and internal injury. The risk is particularly serious for children and older adults. No illnesses or injuries related to this recall have been reported.
