Why Was This Product Recalled?

MorningStar Farms discovered the possible presence of plastic pieces in the affected product lots. The specific source of the plastic contamination has not been publicly disclosed. Plastic pieces in food can cause physical injury if consumed, including lacerations to the mouth, throat, or digestive tract, broken teeth, choking, and internal injury. The risk is particularly serious for children and older adults. No illnesses or injuries related to this recall have been reported. The recall is limited to specific best-if-used-before date codes, meaning most MorningStar Farms products currently on store shelves are not affected.
