Conair LLC of Stamford, Connecticut, has recalled approximately 1,719,995 Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes after the small wire bristles were found to detach from the brush and stick to the grill or food — posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries requiring surgery. The recall was announced July 2, 2026. Conair has received 54 reports of bristles detaching, including three confirmed cases in which consumers swallowed metal bristles and required medical treatment to remove them from their throat or digestive tract. With peak grilling season underway, these brushes may be in active daily use across millions of households.

Why Was This Product Recalled?
The small metal wire bristles on these grill brushes can detach during use and become embedded in grill grates or stick to food. When food is then eaten, a loose bristle can be ingested without being detected — entering the throat, esophagus, or digestive tract and causing lacerations, punctures, or blockages that may require surgery. Conair has received 54 reports of bristles detaching, including three confirmed cases requiring medical intervention to remove swallowed bristles.
