Rowenta Recalls X-Force Flex Cordless Vacuum Cleaners Over Lithium-Ion Battery That Can Overheat And Cause Fire

Recall

Groupe SEB USA, doing business as Rowenta USA, has recalled approximately 3,660 Rowenta X-Force Flex cordless vacuum cleaners after the lithium-ion battery in the vacuum’s handle was found to overheat and potentially ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard. The recall was announced July 2, 2026. Rowenta has received two U.S. reports of overheating or charging failure, plus 65 additional reports globally. No injuries have been reported. Rowenta will send a free replacement battery to affected consumers.

What’s Being Recalled?

The recall covers two Rowenta X-Force Flex cordless vacuum models, sold in red, black, and silver:

X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal — model number RH99A2U1.
X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal — model number RH99F2U1.

The hazard is in the Versatile X-Force lithium-ion battery, model number ZR0097U2, housed in the vacuum’s handle. Only batteries with a date code beginning with 23 or 24 — manufactured before December 2024 — are included. Both the model number and date code are printed on the back of the battery. The battery was sold separately and as part of the vacuum. The vacuums were sold at Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, and online at Rowenta.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com from July 2023 through January 2026 for between $250 and $550.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The recalled lithium-ion battery can overheat during charging or use, posing a risk of fire and serious burns. Two U.S. consumers reported overheating or charging failure, and 65 additional reports have come in globally. Lithium-ion batteries that overheat can swell, rupture, and ignite. The battery is housed in the vacuum handle and is handled directly during use and charging.

What Should You Do?
