Jomani International Inc., distributing under the BBRKIN and MouTec brand names, has recalled approximately 9,100 biometric firearm safes after the CPSC determined the biometric lock can be opened by unauthorized users — defeating the safe’s primary purpose and creating a serious risk of injury or death. The recall was announced July 9, 2026. No injuries have been reported. The safes were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from March 2020 through February 2024.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers BBRKIN and MouTec Biometric Gun Safes with model number QHXP029B. The gray steel safes measure approximately 14 inches by 12 inches by 57 inches, have one shelf, and can store approximately five firearms. The brand name “BBRKIN” or “MouTec” appears on the upper right corner of the front panel. The serial number is on a label in the lower right corner of the front of the safe — recalled units have serial numbers between SQC200034980 and SQC202319171. The safes were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from March 2020 through February 2024 for between $260 and $409.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The biometric fingerprint lock on the recalled gun safes can be opened by unauthorized users — meaning individuals other than the registered owner can gain access to the firearm stored inside. A gun safe that can be opened by an unauthorized person — whether a child, a visitor, or an intruder — eliminates the safety protection the safe is specifically designed to provide. Unauthorized access to an improperly secured firearm poses a severe risk of accidental discharge, theft, or misuse. The CPSC has classified this as a serious injury hazard and risk of death.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the biometric feature of the recalled safe immediately. Remove the batteries from the safe so the biometric feature cannot be activated, and use only the physical key to access the safe until a repair kit is installed. Contact BBRKIN for a free repair kit. Register at securitysafe.store/recallreplacement or click “Recall” at the top of securitysafe.store and select “Recall Form.” You can also email [email protected]. Do not store firearms in the safe using the biometric lock feature until the repair is completed and verified.
