Taylor Farms de Mexico of Guanajuato, Mexico, has voluntarily recalled all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico distributed to the U.S. market after the FDA linked the product to the multistate Cyclospora outbreak that has now sickened thousands. The recall was announced July 17, 2026. This identifies the source in the multistate Cyclospora outbreak we first reported on July 15. The recalled product was distributed June 29 through July 16, 2026, across 27 states.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers all iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico‘s central Mexico growing region, distributed June 29 through July 16, 2026. Products span food service bulk quantities sold to restaurants and fast food operations, as well as retail consumer bags. The retail products are sold under the MKTSD brand and include:
Iceberg Salad in 12 oz and 24 oz bags — best-if-used-by dates July 18 through August 3, 2026.
Shredded Lettuce in 8 oz and 16 oz bags — best-if-used-by dates July 18 through August 3, 2026.
Additional food service products under the CV, JB, MARK, PK, SUB, SY, and TF brand codes were distributed to restaurants and commercial kitchens across the same 27 states. The recalled products were distributed across 27 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
Federal investigators traced the multistate Cyclospora outbreak to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico‘s central Mexico growing region. Cyclospora can contaminate produce via irrigation water or soil, causing profuse watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, and weight loss. Symptoms begin one to two weeks after exposure and can last weeks without treatment. The infection is treatable with antibiotics but requires specialized lab testing to diagnose.
What Should You Do?
Discard any Taylor Farms iceberg or shredded lettuce with best-if-used-by dates between July 18 and August 3, 2026. Do not eat it. Return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. If you ate lettuce at a restaurant in any of the 27 states between June 29 and July 16 and develop diarrhea, stomach cramps, or fatigue, contact your healthcare provider and ask for a Cyclospora-specific test.
