Publix has significantly expanded its GreenWise frozen berry recall, now recalling all lots of both Organic Whole Blueberries and Organic Whole Mixed Berries in 10-ounce and 48-ounce sizes due to potential E. coli O145:H28 contamination. The expanded recall was announced July 29, 2026. This is an update to the original recall announced July 3, 2026, which covered only a single lot of the 10-ounce blueberries. The recalled products were sold in Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
What’s Being Recalled?
All lots of four GreenWise frozen berry products are now recalled:

GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries, 10 oz — UPC 41415-06753
GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries, 48 oz — UPC 41415-12153
Publix stopped selling frozen GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries as of the end of June 2026. These products are no longer available for purchase, but may remain in consumers’ freezers.
Why Was This Recall Expanded?
Publix expanded the recall based on updated public health traceback and epidemiological information from health officials. The original July 3 recall — issued by Chilean grower Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. — covered only lot code 60401 of the 10-ounce blueberries. As the outbreak investigation continued, Publix expanded the recall to all lots of both products as a precautionary measure. E. coli O145:H28 is a Shiga toxin-producing strain that can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. Some infections develop into hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a life-threatening kidney condition, particularly in young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
What Should You Do?
Check your freezer for any of the four GreenWise frozen berry products listed above. Do not eat them regardless of lot code or best-by date — all lots are recalled.
