The CPSC has issued recalls for multiple brands of pull string silicone teething toys sold on Amazon after the silicone strings were found to be smaller and longer than permitted under mandatory federal toy safety standards, allowing them to reach the back of a child’s throat and become lodged — posing a risk of respiratory distress and deadly choking. The largest of these recalls involves GOPO TOYS Pull String Teething Toys, with approximately 70,000 units recalled. The firm is aware of three reports of the toy’s strings reaching the back of a child’s throat, resulting in respiratory distress or choking.
What’s Being Recalled?
Several brands of pull string teething toys sold exclusively on Amazon are included in active recalls. All share the same basic design: an off-white disc-shaped toy with a ball in the center and six long, multicolored silicone “tentacle” pull strings running through the ball, along with soft push buttons on the disc.

Why Were These Products Recalled?
The silicone pull strings on all of these toys are thinner and longer than the federal mandatory standard for toys permits. The strings can reach the back of children’s throats and become lodged, posing a serious risk of respiratory distress and a deadly choking hazard. The toys are marketed for infants and toddlers — the very age group most at risk. Confirmed incidents include children experiencing respiratory distress requiring immediate intervention.
What Should You Do?
Stop using any pull string tentacle-style teething toy immediately and take it away from children. To receive a refund or replacement, destroy the toy by cutting all silicone strings, write “DESTROYED” in permanent marker on the body of the toy, and email a photo to the appropriate contact for your brand.
