NatureBest Precut & Produce LLC of Houston and Missouri City, Texas, is voluntarily recalling multiple products containing jalapeño peppers distributed to retail customers in Texas and Louisiana, and HEB is simultaneously pulling more than 45 in-store prepared products made with the same jalapeños. The recalls were announced August 14-15, 2026. No illnesses have been reported connected to these specific finished products. This is the latest expansion of the multistate jalapeño Salmonella outbreak first reported August 6, which has now sickened 345+ people in 27 states.
What’s Being Recalled?
NatureBest products containing recalled jalapeños were distributed to HEB and other retail customers in Texas and Louisiana between July 3 and August 5, 2026. HEB additionally pulled more than 35 store-prepared products made with the same jalapeños, including several varieties of:
HEB Pico de Gallo and Guacamole varieties
NatureBest-branded Pico de Gallo and Diced Jalapeños
HEB Ceviche, Shrimp Cocktail, and prepared seafood items
HEB Jalapeno Popper Stuffed Mushrooms
HEB Cheese Spreads, Mexican Street Corn, and Snack Trays

Why Was This Recall Issued?
NatureBest received notification from Coast Citrus Distributors — the same supplier linked to the multistate jalapeño outbreak — that certain jalapeño peppers supplied by Coast Citrus may be contaminated with Salmonella. The jalapeños were sourced from a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico. HEB separately received notification about prepared products made in-store using affected jalapeños from its supplier chain.
What Should You Do?
Check your refrigerator for any of the affected NatureBest or HEB products purchased between July 3 and August 5, 2026. Do not eat them. Return them to HEB for a full refund.
