Conair LLC has expanded its Cuisinart wire bristle grill brush recall, adding approximately 1.9 million additional brushes across 13 new model numbers — bringing the total recalled to over 3.6 million units. The expansion was announced August 27, 2026. The original recall, announced July 2, 2026, covered 8 model numbers. Critically, this expansion also includes a blanket recall of all Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes sold prior to 2020, even those without a listed model number. No new injuries have been reported beyond the three previously confirmed cases where consumers swallowed metal bristles and required medical treatment.
What’s Being Recalled?
All Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes are now recalled. Previously recalled models include CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777. Newly added models include CGWM-024, CGWM-059, FCB-501, CGS-W18, CCB-134, CGWM-061, CB-395, CCB-3001, CGWM-077, CGWM-058, CCB-012/021, CGWM-060, and FBH-51. Additionally, all Cuisinart brand wire bristle brushes sold individually or in sets prior to 2020 are included in this recall, even if a specific model number is not listed. The word “Cuisinart” is stamped on the handle of most recalled models. The brushes were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, Ross, Amazon, and Cuisinart.com from June 2009 through March 2026 for between $8 and $20.
Why Was This Recall Expanded?
Small metal wire bristles on all of these grill brushes can detach during use and become embedded in grill grates or stick to food. When food is then eaten, a loose bristle can be ingested — entering the throat, esophagus, or digestive tract and causing lacerations, punctures, or blockages that may require surgery. Three consumers have already required medical intervention to have swallowed bristles removed. The CPSC also announced this week that Weber recalled 3.2 million wire bristle grill brushes and Nexgrill recalled 10.2 million — signaling an industry-wide safety reckoning with this product category.
