Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, Inc. of Houston, Texas, has recalled approximately 4,633 Amana Through-The-Wall (TTW) air conditioners and heat pumps after discovering that a snubber circuit on the control board can short and emit flames, posing a risk of serious injury from fire. The recall was announced September 3, 2026. DCT has received two reports of the component shorting. No injuries have been reported. This is a separate recall from the June 26, 2026 Amana recall, which covered different model numbers and a different defect.
What’s Being Recalled?
Five Amana TTW models are included in this recall — all white units with the brand name printed on most control covers. Only models beginning with “PB” are affected. The model number and serial number are located on a white sticker on the front edge of the base pan:
PBC092J00AA — Air Conditioner
PBC093J00AA — Air Conditioner
PBC122J00AA — Air Conditioner
PBC123J00AA — Air Conditioner
PBH092J12AA — Heat Pump
The units were sold through direct sales and distribution customers nationwide from April 2025 through June 2026 for between $625 and $900. These units are most commonly installed in hotels, apartment buildings, and commercial spaces.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The snubber circuit on the recalled units’ control board can short, causing the component to emit flames. This poses a fire hazard to the building and anyone nearby. Two reports of the control board component shorting have been received. Unlike the June 2026 Amana recall — which involved a ground fault causing the heating element to remain energized — this defect is a separate issue with a different component of the control board.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the recalled Amana TTW units immediately and unplug them. Contact DCT for a full refund.
