Skip Hop Inc. is recalling approximately 22,660 Baby Sesame Street Elmo Silicone Teethers after the black eyes on the teether were found to detach when the product is frozen, posing a risk of serious injury or death from choking. The recall was announced September 3, 2026. Skip Hop has received four consumer reports of the eyes detaching from the teether. No injuries have been reported. The teethers were sold at Carter’s retail stores nationwide and online at carters.com and skiphop.com.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers the Skip Hop Baby Sesame Street Elmo Silicone Teether, model number 9R263210. The product is shaped like Elmo’s face — red, orange, and white, with black eyes — and includes a textured blue key and a fabric crayon box in beige, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. A red tag with the Skip Hop brand name and model number is attached to the side of the crayon box. The teethers were sold at Carter’s retail stores nationwide and online at carters.com and skiphop.com from January 2025 through March 2026 for approximately $12.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The black eyes on the recalled teether can detach from the product when it is frozen — a common practice parents use to soothe teething infants. Detached eyes are small enough to be swallowed by infants, posing a serious choking hazard. Four consumer reports of eye detachment have been received, with no injuries reported.
