Lidl US is recalling one lot of Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce & Cookie Pieces because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The company announced the recall on October 16, 2026, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted it the following day. The gelato was sold at every Lidl store in Delaware, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia between July 19 and October 15, 2026.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers 16-fluid-ounce (1-pint) containers of Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce & Cookie Pieces with UPC 4 0564897 22458, lot number 085261, and a best-by date of MAR/26/2028. The gelato comes in a clear plastic container with a brown lid. The lot number and best-by date are printed on the bottom of the container. Gelatelli is Lidl’s store brand of frozen desserts, and only this one flavor and lot are included in the recall. The best-by date is well over a year away, so the gelato may still be in home freezers.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The recall began after routine quality testing found Listeria monocytogenes in a lab sample. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may experience high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. Unlike many bacteria, Listeria can survive freezing temperatures, which is why frozen desserts can still carry a risk. No illnesses have been reported so far.
What Should You Do?
