Why Was This Product Recalled?
The recall was triggered after a consumer reported finding individual bites that appeared to contain peanut butter inside wrappers for SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites — a product that does not list peanuts or peanut butter as ingredients. The possible presence of undeclared peanut allergen poses a serious or life-threatening risk to people with peanut allergies. Peanut is one of the nine major food allergens recognized under federal law, and peanut-related reactions are among the most severe of all food allergy responses — potentially causing anaphylaxis, which can be fatal without immediate treatment. Peanuts are not an intended ingredient in the Almond Bites.
