BISSELL Recalls 1.7 Million Steam Shot OmniReach and Omni Steam Cleaners Over Serious Burn Hazard

Product Recall

BISSELL Homecare Inc. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, has recalled approximately 1.7 million handheld steam cleaners after discovering that the attachments can unexpectedly detach during use and expel hot water or steam onto users, posing a serious burn hazard. The recall was announced April 9, 2026, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. BISSELL has received 206 reports of hot water or steam unexpectedly escaping from the attachments, including 161 burn injuries and one report of a second-degree burn.

What’s Being Recalled?

The recall covers BISSELL Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni handheld steam cleaners with attachments, sold in green, gray, white, blue, and dark blue. The affected model numbers are 4155, 4155L, 4155W, 4155G, 4155D, 4155J, 4155Y, 4155P, 4171, 4171L, 4171W, and 4171F. The model number is printed on the rating label on the bottom of the unit. Depending on the model, the product includes attachments such as an accessory nozzle, grout brush, round detail brushes, flat scraping tool, and angle concentrator tool, and may also include an extension hose, fabric steamer, and steam squeegee — all gray in color. The recalled units were sold at Target, Walmart, and other home goods stores nationwide, and online at BISSELL.com, Amazon.com, HSN.com, and other websites from October 2024 through March 2026 for between $9 and $55.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The attachments on the recalled steam cleaners can unexpectedly detach from the unit while in use, causing hot water or steam to escape and contact the user. With 206 confirmed incidents — including 161 burn injuries and at least one second-degree burn — the hazard has already caused widespread harm. Steam and boiling water expelled unexpectedly at close range can cause serious burns, particularly on bare skin or when used near children.

What Should You Do?

Stop using the recalled steam cleaner attachments immediately. Check the model number on the rating label on the bottom of your unit against the list above to confirm whether your product is affected. The unit itself is not being replaced — only the attachments. Register for free replacement attachments at steamshot2026.com, where you will be asked to upload a photo showing the original attachments disposed of in the trash. You can also contact BISSELL toll-free at 855-417-7001, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, or email [email protected].
