Casely of Brooklyn, New York, has re-issued its recall of approximately 429,200 Casely Power Pods 5000mAh MagSafe Wireless Portable Power Banks after reporting one fatality and 28 additional incidents of the lithium-ion batteries overheating, expanding, or catching fire since the product was first recalled in April 2025. The re-announced recall was issued April 16, 2026. Anyone who still owns this power bank must stop using it immediately.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recalled product is the Casely Power Pods 5000mAh Portable MagSafe Wireless Phone Charger, model number E33A. The model number E33A is printed on the back and “Casely” is engraved on the front. They were sold online at getcasely.com, Amazon.com, and other websites from March 2022 through September 2024 for between $30 and $70. Consumers who received a replacement during the first recall are not affected.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The lithium-ion battery inside the recalled power bank can overheat and ignite, posing fire and serious burn hazards. Since the original 2025 recall, Casely has received 28 additional reports of the battery overheating, expanding, or catching fire — bringing the total to 79 confirmed incidents. In August 2024, a 75-year-old woman from New Jersey was charging her phone with the power bank on her lap when it caught fire and exploded. She suffered second- and third-degree burns and later died from complications from her injuries. In February 2026, a 47-year-old woman was using the power bank on an airplane when it exploded and caught fire, causing first-degree burns. The total now stands at 79 confirmed incidents across both recalls.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the recalled power bank immediately. To receive a free replacement, go to getcasely.com/pages/2025-recall and fill out the online form. You will need to upload two photos: one showing the front of the device with the word “Recalled” and the current date written on it in permanent marker, and a second showing the model number on the back. Do not throw the recalled power bank in the trash, curbside recycling bins, or standard battery recycling boxes — lithium-ion batteries require special disposal.
