Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of select Outshine Fruit Bars after consumers reported finding pieces of glass inside the products. No illnesses or injuries have been reported yet. The affected products were distributed to retailers nationwide. Dreyer’s initiated the recall out of an abundance of caution following the consumer reports.
What’s Being Recalled?
Six Outshine fruit bar products are included in this recall, all in the 2.5-ounce bar size:
Outshine Strawberry Fruit Bars, 6-Count — UPC 041548610047

Outshine Grape Fruit Bars, 6-Count — UPC 041548244044

Outshine Variety Pack Fruit Bars, 24-Count — UPC 041548816678
Only specific batch codes are included. All affected batch codes begin with “LLA” and are printed on the bottom of the package along with the best-by date. Best-by dates for affected batches range from May 2027 through November 2027. The full list of batch codes is available in the FDA’s recall notice at fda.gov. No other Outshine products or varieties are affected.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
Dreyer’s initiated the recall after receiving consumer reports of glass pieces found inside the recalled fruit bars. Glass fragments in food can cause lacerations to the mouth, throat, and digestive tract, broken teeth, choking, and internal injury. The specific source of the glass contamination has not been publicly disclosed. No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.
What Should You Do?
Check the bottom of any Outshine 6-count fruit bar boxes or 24-count variety packs for a batch code beginning with “LLA.” If your product matches one of the affected batch codes, do not eat it.
