Why Was This Product Recalled?

The internal electrical components of the recalled refrigerators can short circuit and ignite, causing a fire inside the unit. The CPSC has received 34 reports of fires involving these refrigerators, one of which caused a fatality. These are retro-style appliances that were popular as a design statement and may be used in kitchens, dorm rooms, garages, and offices — locations where a fire can spread rapidly to nearby materials.
