Giantex Inc. of Ontario, California, has recalled approximately 1,155 outdoor lounge chairs after one consumer’s finger was amputated while adjusting the chair’s backrest position. The recall was announced May 28, 2026. The recalled chairs were sold on Amazon.com and Giantex.com from August 2023 through October 2025 for between $75 and $90.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers the Giantex outdoor lounge chair with model number NP10025NY, printed on the front and side of the product packaging. The chair is blue and measures 76 inches long by 23 inches wide by 13 inches high. It features a five-position adjustable locking system that allows the backrest to be raised from a flat 13.5-inch height to 26.5 inches. The adjustment mechanism that controls the backrest position is the source of the hazard. The recalled chairs were sold exclusively on Amazon.com and Giantex.com from August 2023 through October 2025 for between $75 and $90.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
Consumers can place their fingers into a pinch point in the chair’s adjustment mechanism when raising or lowering the backrest. This design flaw can trap and sever a finger if the backrest is adjusted while the consumer’s hand is near the locking mechanism. Giantex has received one confirmed report of a consumer’s finger being amputated during adjustment. The CPSC has classified this as an amputation hazard — one of the most serious injury categories tracked for consumer furniture. Backrest adjustment on lounge chairs is a routine and expected user action, making the risk particularly difficult to anticipate or avoid. With summer outdoor furniture season underway, many of these chairs may be in active use on patios and decks.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the recalled Giantex outdoor lounge chair immediately. Contact Giantex for a full refund. Consumers have two options: request a prepaid return shipping package to send the chair back, or destroy the chair at home by detaching the headrest pillow, cutting the fabric, and submitting photographic proof. The destruction-in-place option avoids the need to transport or store the recalled item while waiting for pickup. Giantex customer service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 844-242-1885 or [email protected]. More information is available at giantex.com/pages/product-recall-notice.
