Graco has issued a voluntary recall of select SnugRide Turn & Slide infant car seats after a structural defect was identified in the seat’s base during post-production laboratory testing. The recall was announced April 5, 2026, and affects seats sold in the United States between January 2026 and March 2026. Graco has not specified the exact nature of the structural issue, but says the seat remains safe to use without the base. All affected families will receive a free replacement product.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers select SnugRide Turn & Slide Rotating Infant Car Seats, extra bases, and Modes Nest Travel Systems with the Turn & Slide seat, sold between January and March 2026. Affected products were sold at Amazon, Babylist, Target, Walmart, and directly on GracoBaby.com. Specific affected model numbers include the Turn & Slide seat in Noir/Black (models 2231809, 2231881, 2231884), Sandstone/Tan (models 2231885, 2231887), and Mulberry/Girl-Plum (model 2231806), as well as the standalone Turn & Slide extra base (model 2231810) and the Modes Nest Travel System with Turn & Slide (model 2243083). No other Graco infant car seats are affected — including the EasyTurn, Turn2Me, and all other SnugRide models.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
Graco discovered the issue during routine post-production laboratory testing, before any injuries or incidents were reported. The defect is in the base — the component that stays secured in the vehicle while the infant carrier clicks in and out. Graco has not disclosed the specific nature of the defect beyond calling it a “structural issue” involving how the seat secures to the base. The seat itself is safe for continued use, but the base cannot be trusted to secure the carrier until replaced.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the recalled base immediately. Check the white product label on the base for your model number — Graco‘s recall page at recalls.gracobaby.com allows you to enter your model number to confirm whether your product is affected. If you need to use the car seat before your replacement arrives, Graco confirms the seat can be safely installed using the vehicle’s seatbelt without the base — consult your product instructions for guidance. Do not return the car seat to a store. Register at recalls.gracobaby.com or call Graco Consumer Services at 1-800-345-4109, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
