Great Value And Trader Joe’s Frozen Organic Berries Recall Expanded Over E. Coli Risk

Product Recall

Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., a frozen fruit supplier based in San Carlos, Chile, has expanded its recall of frozen organic berries. The recall now includes more lots of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend and Great Value Organic Blueberries, plus one lot of Trader Joe’s Organic Mixed Berry Blend. The products may be contaminated with E. coli O145. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted the expanded recall on October 2, 2026. This is the second expansion of a recall that began on July 3, 2026 and was first expanded on September 3, 2026.

What’s Being Recalled?

The newly added Great Value products are:

  • 10-ounce bags of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend (UPC 7874211226) with lot codes 6 031 01 and 6 041 01.
  • 10-ounce bags of Great Value Organic Blueberries (UPC 7874211213) with lot codes 6 019 01, 6 040 01, and 6 163 01.

Lot codes are printed on the front of the Great Value bags. These were sold at select Walmart stores in 30 states and Puerto Rico. The recall also includes 12-ounce bags of Trader Joe’s Organic Mixed Berry Blend (UPC 00977654) with lot code 6 051 01 on the back of the bag. These were sold at select Trader Joe’s stores in 26 states and Washington, D.C.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The company says the expansion is a precaution. Traceback information connected these lots to the frozen blueberries in the original July recall, which is part of an FDA outbreak investigation. E. coli O145 can cause severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea that may be bloody. Most healthy people recover within a week. However, some infections can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious kidney complication that is most dangerous for young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.

What Should You Do?

Check your freezer for the bags and lot codes listed above. Frozen berries can last for months, so recalled bags may still be in your home. Do not eat the berries. Throw them away or return them to Walmart or Trader Joe’s for a full refund. Questions can be directed to the company at 336-899-5612 or [email protected], Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern.
