Kettle Cuisine LLC is recalling 3,240 packs of Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit sold exclusively at select Walmart stores after routine company testing produced a presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was announced August 13, 2026. No confirmed illnesses have been reported. The company is continuing its investigation in coordination with the FDA.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit, 14 oz (397g), packaged in a wrapped tray containing a 12-ounce plastic pouch of soup, cheese croutons, and white cheddar cheese. The affected product has UPC 194346474004 and a use-by date of August 22, 2026. The soup was sold exclusively at select Walmart stores in 29 states between June 30 and July 7, 2026: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
Routine quality testing by Kettle Cuisine produced a presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in the recalled soup kit. Listeria can survive and thrive in refrigeration — making ready-to-eat refrigerated products a higher-risk category. The CDC estimates 1,600 people get Listeria food poisoning annually and about 260 die. Symptoms can appear quickly or up to 10 weeks after consuming contaminated food and include fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, and diarrhea. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women. Consumers should not rely on smell or appearance to determine whether the soup is safe.
What Should You Do?
Do not eat the recalled soup kit — including the soup, croutons, and cheese. Throw out the entire pack or return it to Walmart for a refund.
