Kettle Cuisine has voluntarily recalled 24-ounce cups of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup after discovering that at least one container was filled with the wrong soup — a shrimp-containing product — while labeled as minestrone. The recall was announced late May 2026. No illnesses have been reported. The recalled soup was sold at Whole Foods locations and on Amazon in 17 states and Washington, D.C. Only a single lot code is affected.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers 24-ounce clear plastic cups of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup marked with lot code 1762181 and a use-by date of May 27, 2026, printed on the top rim of the cup. The UPC identifier 099482502065 is located on the back label. No other Whole Foods soups or use-by codes are affected. The recalled soup was sold at Whole Foods stores and on Amazon in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, and Washington, D.C.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The recall was triggered after it was discovered that at least one container labeled as Minestrone Soup had been filled with a different soup that contains shrimp — a major shellfish allergen not listed on the minestrone label. Consumers with shellfish allergies who purchased the soup, relying on the label, would have had no way to know shrimp was present. Shellfish is one of the nine major food allergens recognized under federal law. Shellfish allergy reactions can range from hives, vomiting, and stomach pain to anaphylaxis — a severe, potentially fatal allergic emergency requiring immediate medical treatment.
What Should You Do?
Check your refrigerator for 24-ounce cups of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup with lot code 1762181 and a use-by date of May 27, 2026. Do not consume the product if you have a shellfish allergy. Return the soup to any Whole Foods store for a full refund. If you purchased through Amazon, you may also initiate a return through your order history. If you consumed the soup and are experiencing symptoms of an allergic reaction — including hives, throat tightening, difficulty breathing, or signs of anaphylaxis — seek emergency medical care immediately.
