Lifetime Brands Recalls 75,700 BUILT LUUM Light-Up Tumblers Over Dangerous Button Battery Hazard

Product Recall

Lifetime Brands has recalled approximately 75,700 BUILT LUUM Light Up Tumblers after the Consumer Product Safety Commission determined the cups can break, exposing a button cell battery that poses a serious choking and ingestion hazard to children. The recall was announced March 19, 2026. One incident has already been reported involving a child who gained access to the battery and put it in their mouth. No injuries have been reported to date.

What’s Being Recalled?

The recalled products are BUILT LUUM Light Up Tumblers, plastic drinking cups with a lid and straw available in 16-ounce and 18-ounce sizes. The tumblers feature an LED light in a compartment on the bottom of the cup, powered by a preinstalled button cell battery. They were sold in various seasonal and themed designs including winter holiday styles such as Festive Forest, Merry Glow, and Let It Snow, as well as patriotic designs including USA, Stars, and Flag. The word “lumm,” the tumbler’s theme name, item number, and UPC code are on a label on the underside of the cup or hangtag. The tumblers were sold at Kroger, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Nordstrom Rack, and Winn-Dixie stores nationwide and online at builtny.com from October 2024 through December 2025 for between $10 and $15.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The tumblers can crack or break, allowing children to access the button cell battery stored in the bottom compartment. Button cell and coin batteries are among the most dangerous objects a child can ingest. When swallowed, these batteries can cause serious injuries, severe internal chemical burns, and death — and the injury can progress rapidly. The CPSC warns that any child suspected of swallowing a button cell battery must be taken to an emergency room immediately without waiting for symptoms to appear.

What Should You Do?

Stop using the recalled tumblers immediately and move them out of reach of children. Safely dispose of the button cell battery per local hazardous waste guidelines — do not put it in regular household trash. Then contact Lifetime Brands for a full refund. You will be asked to discard the LED light portion of the tumbler and upload a photo of it in the trash via the Product Recall Refund Form at builtny.com/pages/recall. For questions, call Lifetime Brands toll-free at 888-561-2269, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or email [email protected].
