Loard’s Ice Cream Recalls All Retail Products Over Missing Ingredient Labels And Seven Undeclared Allergens

Product Recall

Silver Moon LP, doing business as Loard’s Ice Cream of San Leandro, California, has voluntarily recalled all ice cream products sold in retail-sized packaging after an FDA inspection determined the containers were distributed without any ingredient labeling — meaning consumers had no way to identify allergens, food colorings, or other ingredients in the products they purchased. The recall was announced April 16, 2026. No illnesses have been reported. Products were sold exclusively at Loard’s Ice Cream parlors in Northern California.

What’s Being Recalled?

The recall covers the entire Loard’s line of retail-packaged ice cream and sherbet products — 43 flavors in total — sold in 32-ounce blue paper cups and 56-ounce plastic cups at Loard’s Ice Cream storefront locations in Northern California. The affected containers have no ingredient statement or allergen declarations on their labels. The recall covers all product purchased from Loard’s storefront freezers.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

During an FDA inspection, it was determined that the retail-sized packaging for Loard’s Ice Cream products was distributed without any ingredient statement or allergen declarations — a fundamental labeling requirement under federal food law. The missing labels mean consumers with food allergies had no information to protect themselves. Across the 43 affected flavors, undeclared allergens include milk, eggs, tree nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, pistachios), peanuts, soy, and wheat — seven of the nine major food allergens recognized under federal law. Several flavors also contain undeclared sulfites and artificial food colorings including Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1, and others. Exposure to undeclared allergens can cause reactions ranging from hives and stomach distress to severe anaphylaxis, which can be fatal without immediate treatment. Consumers who rely on label reading to manage food allergies had no way to protect themselves from these products.

What Should You Do?

Return any Loard’s Ice Cream retail-packaged products purchased from Loard’s parlor storefront freezers to the location of purchase for a full refund or replacement with updated packaging. If anyone in your household has a known allergy to milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, or wheat — do not consume any of these products. Contact Loard’s at (415) 547-0520, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. PST, or email [email protected] with questions about the recall.
