The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has recalled six frozen pizza products sold at Aldi and Walmart after determining they contain dry milk powder that may have been contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported. The USDA expects to identify additional affected products as the investigation continues.
What’s Being Recalled?
Six frozen pizza varieties are included across three retail brands:
Aldi (Mama Cozzi’s brand): Biscuit Crust Sausage & Cheese Breakfast Pizza and Biscuit Crust Cooked Pork Belly Crumbles, Cooked Bacon Topping, Pepper & Onion Breakfast Pizza — both sold nationwide at Aldi stores.
Walmart (Great Value brand): Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza, Ultra Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza, and Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza — all sold at Walmart stores nationwide.
Aldi (Culinary Circle brand): Ultra Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza — sold at Aldi stores nationwide.
The full list of affected production dates, best-by dates, lot codes, and establishment numbers is available at fsis.usda.gov. Additional products from this same supplier may be added to the recall as the investigation continues.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
All six products contain dry milk powder sourced from California Dairies, Inc., which issued its own recall over potential Salmonella contamination. This is the same supplier behind recent recalls of Ghirardelli powdered beverage mixes and Utz Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips. Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps within 12 to 72 hours of consumption, and can cause serious illness in young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the affected pizza products. Unlike a standard retail recall where products are pulled from shelves, these items may still be in circulation, which makes checking your own freezer especially important.
What Should You Do?
Check your freezer immediately for any of the six products listed above purchased at Aldi or Walmart. Do not eat the affected products. Throw them away or return them to the store for a full refund. For specific lot codes and production dates, visit fsis.usda.gov and search for the April 30, 2026 recall notice.
