Niwali Tejocote Supplements Recalled After FDA Finds Toxic Yellow Oleander

Product Recall

Global Mix Inc. of Middle Village, New York, is recalling niwali Tejocote Capsules and niwali Tejocote Pieces. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) testing found that the herbal supplements appear to contain yellow oleander, a highly toxic plant, instead of tejocote root. The FDA posted the company announcement on September 21, 2026. The supplements were sold online nationwide through eBay.com and Everymarket.com.

What’s Being Recalled?

The recall covers two products. niwali Tejocote Capsules come in a white plastic bottle with a white screw cap and a blue and green label marked “90 CAPSULES” and “HERBAL SUPPLEMENT,” with lot code RM500925. niwali Tejocote Pieces come in a bottle with a blue and white label marked “90 DAY SUPPLY,” with lot code RM400925 and UPC 1 99284 23789 6. Both products carry a best-by date of 03/03/2028. The company says only five units were sold. The online marketplaces do not share buyer contact information, so the company cannot reach every customer directly.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The FDA collected samples of the products on June 19, 2026. Lab results showed that the supplements labeled as tejocote were actually yellow oleander, also known as Thevetia peruviana. Every part of the yellow oleander plant contains substances called cardiac glycosides, which are highly toxic to people and animals. Eating yellow oleander can cause severe or even fatal problems affecting the heart, nervous system, and stomach. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, stomach pain, and dangerous changes in heart rhythm. No illnesses have been reported so far.
