Ocinet Inc. Recalls All …And Kimchi Branded Sliced Kimchi Sold In Southern California Over Undeclared Anchovies

Product Recall

Ocinet Inc. of Downey, California, has voluntarily recalled all sizes of its “…And Kimchi” branded sliced kimchi after discovering the product contains anchovies — a fish allergen — that are not declared anywhere on the packaging label. The recall was announced May 4, 2026. No illnesses have been reported. Distribution of the product has been suspended until the labeling issue is corrected. This recall is limited to a small number of retail locations in Southern California.

What’s Being Recalled?

The recall covers all units of “…And Kimchi” branded sliced kimchi sold in three container sizes: 126-ounce (3.57 kg) clear plastic jars with UPC 8541200408, 63-ounce (1.78 kg) clear plastic jars with UPC 8651200409, and 30-ounce (850 g) clear plastic jars with UPC 8541200411. All sizes feature the “…And Kimchi” logo in red type on the label. The recalled product was distributed exclusively to six Zion Market retail locations in Southern California, including the San Diego location at 8330 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Consumers who purchased “…And Kimchi” sliced kimchi at any Zion Market location should check whether their product is included.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the kimchi was distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of anchovies, a fish product. Fish is one of the nine major food allergens recognized under federal law, and its undeclared presence can cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions in people with fish allergies or sensitivities. Anchovies are a common ingredient in traditional kimchi recipes — typically used in the fermentation seasoning paste — but must be declared on the label so consumers can make informed purchasing decisions. The product labeling failed to include this required disclosure.

What Should You Do?

If you purchased “…And Kimchi” sliced kimchi at a Zion Market location and have a fish allergy or sensitivity, do not consume the product. Return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. For questions, contact Zion Market directly or email [email protected]. Consumers may also contact Ocinet Inc. at [email protected]. If you have consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms of an allergic reaction — including hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis — seek emergency medical attention immediately.
