Papablic, Inc. of Chicago is recalling about 248 Papablic Bedside Sleepers with Play Yard Extensions because they violate the mandatory federal safety standard for play yards and can pose deadly suffocation, entrapment, and fall hazards to babies. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on October 15, 2026. The sleepers were sold on Amazon.com and papablic.com from April 2025 through July 2026 for about $190.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall involves Papablic Bedside Sleepers, model PAPA03001AI. These convertible sleepers work as both a bassinet that sits beside a parent’s bed and a play yard. They have a gray exterior with an interior printed in a stars-and-moon pattern, and “Papablic” is stitched in white on the front gray fabric panel. The model number is printed on a label sewn to the interior fabric of the bassinet, underneath the mattress pad. The CPSC recall number is 27-027.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The sleepers fail two key safety requirements. First, the mattress can shift out of place, which can allow a baby to become trapped between the sleeping pad and the bottom of the sleeper, creating a deadly suffocation hazard. Second, the latching and locking mechanism can fail, causing the sleeper to collapse while a baby is inside, posing a risk of serious injury, entrapment, or falls. No incidents or injuries have been reported so far.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the recalled sleeper immediately and find another safe place for your baby to sleep, such as a crib or bassinet that meets current federal safety standards. Contact Papablic for a full refund. To receive it, take the sleeper apart, cut the mattress and fabric parts in half, and email photos of the destroyed pieces to [email protected]. Once the company receives proof of destruction, it will issue a full refund, and you should then dispose of the product.
