Target has recalled approximately 211,000 pairs of Cat & Jack-branded children’s sandals after the decorative plastic pearls on the straps were found to detach from the shoe, posing a choking hazard to young children. The recall was announced July 16, 2026. Target has received 23 reports of pearls falling off the sandals. No injuries have been reported. Consumers can return the sandals to any Target store or request a prepaid mail-in label for a full refund.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers Cat & Jack toddler sandals sold in tan with two raffia straps, gold buckles, and plastic pearl embellishments. The sandals were sold in toddler sizes 5T through 12T. “Cat & Jack” is printed on the shoe’s sole and on the bottom of the sandal. The sandals were sold at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com from January 2026 through May 2026 for approximately $20 per pair. Only this specific style of tan Cat & Jack toddler sandal is included — no other Cat & Jack styles are affected.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The plastic pearl decorations on the sandal straps can detach and fall off during normal wear. Loose pearls are small enough to be swallowed by young toddlers, posing a choking hazard. Because these sandals are designed for children ages 5T through 12T — toddlers who may naturally put small objects in their mouths — even a single detached pearl represents a serious risk. Target has received 23 confirmed reports of pearls falling off the sandals. While no injuries have been reported, the CPSC has classified this as a risk of serious injury or death. Summer sandal season means these shoes are likely being worn daily right now.
