Two Children’s Kitchen Step Stool Brands Recalled On The Same Day Over Tip-Over, Fall, And Entrapment Hazards

product recall

The CPSC announced simultaneous recalls of two children’s kitchen tower step stool brands on July 16, 2026, covering a combined 122,860 units. Both can tip over during use, posing a risk of serious injury or death to young children. The remedies differ: one brand offers a full refund, the other provides a free stabilizing repair part mailed to consumers.

What’s Being Recalled?

Two separate children’s step stool products are included:

SDADI Kitchen Step Stools, models LT01 and LT05 — wooden standing towers for kids sold in gray, white, espresso, pink, and natural wood colors, measuring approximately 35 inches high. The recalled units have openings on the front and back sides large enough for a child’s torso to pass through, creating an entrapment hazard in addition to a tip-over risk. About 5,952 units were sold from April 2024 through September 2025 for $45 to $155.

Boon PIVOT Collapsible Toddler Tower Kitchen Step Stools — metal and plastic collapsible towers sold in gray and white, measuring approximately 35 inches tall, 22 inches wide, and 23 inches deep, with “boon” visible along the top rail. About 116,908 units were sold from January 2023 through June 2026 for around $150.

Why Were These Products Recalled?

Both recalled step stools can tip over while a child is using them, posing a serious fall and impact hazard. The SDADI towers have the additional hazard that a child’s torso can fit through the openings on the front and back sides of the unit — if the stool tips, a child inside can become entrapped and strangled. Yiwushi Bihe Trading (SDADI) has received 8 reports of instability or tip-overs, including 4 injuries. TOMY (Boon PIVOT) has received 11 reports of instability with no injuries.

What Should You Do?

Stop using both recalled step stools immediately and keep them away from children.
