Walmart Recalls 4.4 Million Expert Grill Wire Bristle Brushes Over Metal Bristle Ingestion Hazard

Product Recall

Walmart, Inc. is recalling approximately 4,477,655 Expert Grill metal wire bristle grill brushes after small metal wire bristles were found to detach from the brushes and stick to grill grates or food — posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery. The recall was announced October 1, 2026. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The brushes were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and on Walmart.com.

What’s Being Recalled?

Five Expert Grill model numbers are included — all with black plastic or stainless-steel handles, some with attached metal scrapers. The model number is on the product packaging or a sticker or tag on the brush:

EX5607031616002 — Expert Grill 16-inch Steel Fiber Scrub Brush and Scraper (January 2025–August 2026)
EX5607031616003 — Expert Grill Handheld Steel Fiber Scrub Brush with Ergonomic Handle (January 2025–August 2026)
XG1310700206 — Expert Grill 21-inch 3-Head Grill Brush with Soft-Grip Handle (January 2022–August 2026)
XG1136178597003 — Expert Grill Long Handle Grill Brush with Scraper, 17.7-inch (January 2021–August 2026)
XG1410700124 — Expert Grill Grilling Accessories 10-Piece BBQ Grill Tools Set (December 2023–August 2026)

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The small metal wire bristles on these grill brushes can detach during use and become embedded in grill grates or stick to food. When the food is eaten, the loose bristle can enter the throat, esophagus, or digestive tract and cause lacerations, punctures, or blockages that may require surgery. No injuries have been reported, but the same hazard has driven multiple grill brush recalls in 2026 — including the Cuisinart recall (expanded to 3.6 million units in August) and the Weber and Nexgrill recalls.

What Should You Do?

Stop using all recalled Expert Grill wire bristle brushes immediately. Return them to any Walmart store for a full refund or a Walmart store credit. You may also be asked to discard the brush rather than return it. Contact Walmart toll-free at 800-925-6278, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. CT, or visit walmart.com/help or corporate.walmart.com/recalls.
